The natural time clock inside teens [called your circadian rhythm] is what keeps you awake into the night. So, no, it is not bad for your health [but maybe getting up is?]. Unfortunately, public school is run on "grown up" time - start early, end soon and go to bed before the news ends. The best thing you can do is to start gradually moving back your bedtime and when you wake up. There was another question about how to get to sleep, with some really good answers.

Come up with a bed time ritual / routine and stick with it - the routine will signal your brain / body that it is time to go to sleep. Example: my daughter and her cat watch Harry Potter every night. If the movie is broadcast any time that is not bedtime, the kid goes to sleep or that cat gets real mad until she does.

Keep a "dumb things I gotta do" list near your bed or on a desk / bookcase to write down any thoughts that try to keep you up at night.

Make sure your stuff is ready to go before you go to bed, so getting out in the morning won't be so tough.

My kids had problems getting up, so they would carry a high nutrition snack-bar and a travel cup of high-protein milkshake to consume in the car--tell your folks that this is a good way to make the mornings less stressful on them!

The real bummer: no caffeine in the afternoon / evening -- the normal rule is none after 1-2 pm, but that is hard to stick with after a hard day at school.

I have to admit that when I was in middle %26amp; high school, I would have to stay up all night in order to get tired enough to go to sleep at what my mom thought was a reasonable hour.

Good luck!

wow everyone is having this problem! go to bed, and put on soothing music if you like, hope I helped! =D
Are you just not feeling sleepy until then? Are you eating supper late? Do you eat foods in the afternoons and evenings with lots of msg, sodium phosphates, and other additives.

Go to my 360 (click on my avatar here, then the 360 link). There click on the "more" link to get into my blog section. There look at the "tag cloud" under my avatar and click insomnia.

You may have sensitivities to food ingredients, like msg (in many foods as an excititoxin to fool you into thinking it is better than it is or just to increase craving for the food it is added to, also almost all foods containing soy have msg, because msg kills the beany taste of soy solids used as textured plant protein), sodium phosphates (several varieties), TBHQ, BHA, BHT, etc., etc. I list and explain the effects of all these and more in three articles.

Once you have ingested these additives, all you can do is loose sleep until they cycle out of your system. You can relax by perhaps heating up a small microwaveable heating pad (aka "bed-buddy"), but not heated too hot! These will help your muscles to relax.
its so bad for u especially u r student u have to go earlier to bed
